It is hard to imagine that once these lofty spaces were filled with the clatter and shuffle of heavy looms and the dust and lint from the weavings of ribbons and tapes hung thick in the air. People had to shout to make themselves heard and would have had no time to gaze out of the wide windows to admire the view across the River Tean towards the hills. They could never have imagined the changes that would be wrought in their mill. Each thoughtfully designed apartment has its own individual appeal and contemporary design which has incorporated many original and unusual features making Tean Hall Mills truly unique. This is no 'Dark Satanic Mill' that one often imagines when we think of Britain's Industrial past. No sooty chimneys point to the sky, no black stained walls, no small and dingy rooms with tiny grimy windows. Instead warm red brick glows in the sunlight and the magnificent original windows allow light to fill the airy rooms within. Elegant iron columns, reminders of the building's original iron frame, divide the space into open living areas that lead effortlessly from one spacious room to another. Most of the apartments have lovely views across the village and surrounding hills and Jubilee Wood and many of the apartments on the upper floors are graced with gently vaulted ceilings which curve the light creating a very peaceful and relaxing atmosphere and yet Tean Hall Mills, for all its rural location, is within easy reach of major towns for when the city.
